Some time ago, students committed suicide at National Taiwan University. While affirming the contribution of psychology majors, the society also began to review the current situation of insufficient university counseling resources. If you want to increase manpower, how much? Should the teacher-student ratio be adjusted? Is there a way to afford the university's financial resources? What to do with schools that cannot be reached? Although the opinions of these discussions have their own merits, I am actually very happy to see that these different opinions collide with remove background from image each other and sparks, because in the past, being able to "discuss policies seriously" was something that psychologists could not ask for after the incident. The reason why it is said to be unreasonable is because too many psychologists are faced with endless accusations and reviews, but what the school and the public cannot see is the complexity and uncontrollability of life itself. Life is complicated, not enough resources can be saved "You are all full of manpower, why are there still students committing suicide?" This is the feedback that my classmates serving in the college got when they reported the incident to the supervisor. It is understandable that the principal hopes not to have students commit suicide, but the assumption behind it is that as long as sufficient resources and manpower are given, a school can prevent any suicide from happening. If the price of replenishing resources is that no more students will have an accident from now on, can you bear such expectations? I don't think anyone would think that as long as there is a doctor to deal with it, there will be no life that can't be saved. Medical skills are not omnipotent, and the same psychologist is not omnipotent. There will be no life that can be saved without the intervention of a psychologist. In the face of terminally ill patients, doctors can only look forward to recovery after trying their best to deal with them. The cases that come to the psychologist may also be broken in psychological state. The psychologist can only introduce various resources while dealing with them, hoping that the case will gradually recover energy, so that the inner wound has a chance to repair.
